Asset Manager 2008 Enterprise Edition is the network version of Asset Manager 2008 Standard Edition; appart from the network support, both versions are just the same. This program has been designed to help companies control their assets minimizing times and cost involved. This version can work over a network – even Internet – allowing multiple users to share the information stored in the database. Given the characteristics of the application and the fact that any regular Windows-based PC can be used as the server, you won’t need to meet high-level system requirements in order to use Asset Manager.
The program implements a neat and intuitive interface, organized in four tabs: one for each main section of the database. By default the manager opens in the Assets tab which lists all the assets that have been entered. It implements a tree-structure navigator with categories into which you can classify the assets. These categories are called Types and you can enlarge the list as you wish. In turn, Assets information is classified into several tabs, such as: general, finance, service, notes, attachments, and history. Assets Manager supports bar codes to identify the items.
Under the Personnel tab you can create a database of your payroll so you can assign assets to employees. Employees can check-out assets so you can keep information about where a particular asset is, who has it, and even set a due date for return. This tab reproduces the tree-structure navigator of the Assets tab for you to categorize your employees into what is called “groups”.
Vendors is the next tab in the interface. This tab is equivalent to Personnel only oriented to Vendors. The last tab is Reports. From here you can access the list of pre-existing reports, either for previewing or printing. A downside on this regard is that Asset Manager won’t allow users to create new personalized reports. It allows exporting data though. To compensate this downside, this application offers a simple and intuitive concept, easy to implement in enterprises. Besides, its price is very competitive considering the money enterprises can save by using the manager.
